So-called "striae gravidarum" also occur in men and especially teenagers who present rapid growth in heigt or weight gain. Apparently, elastin fibers in the connective tissue cannot keep up with these changes, and the typical striae appear. Their red colour diminishes over the couse of time. There is no therapy proven to be effective.
