Two days filled with curious students, critical expert insights, and a clear message: The need for digital anatomy education is growing. Why this is becoming so important right now—and where the journey is headed next.
On June 29 and 30, Corpus attended its first international conference: the Congress of the Nederlandse Anatomen Vereniging (NAV) at “De Werelt” in Lunteren—the annual gathering for anatomists from the Netherlands and Flanders. For two days, the focus was on current research, modern teaching methods, and professional exchange among colleagues.
It quickly became clear: interest in VR/MR applications in medical education is high and continues to grow. Many professors and students were already familiar with VR from their everyday lives but had never encountered it in the context of anatomy education. Consequently, there was a great deal of curiosity at our booth.
The best reaction came from a student specializing in female anatomy. As she looked at our female model and explored the uterus and ovaries, she kept exclaiming, “Wow, this is so cool!” Moments like these are exactly why we do what we do.
But even the more critical voices were valuable: Many visitors thoroughly tested Corpus’s interactivity and closely scrutinized the anatomical accuracy of the structures—and we passed the test. In a conversation with a professor, it also became clear why digital supplements are becoming so important: Many medical schools are cutting back on anatomy class hours, partly due to a lack of body donations and the budget needed to maintain dissection labs. This is exactly where Corpus comes in: it’s budget-friendly, yet still offers the opportunity to explore the human body independently and perform digital dissections.
After many more fruitful conversations, we’re more motivated than ever to showcase Corpus to an even wider audience. The NAV Congress was just our first step on the international stage—we’ll be continuing in August, and this time we’re heading a whole continent away: to the IFAA Congress 2026 in Melbourne!
