Note from 15.12.2014
Hellish herpes: herpes once, herpes for all time. US researchers have now tested and employed a medication, which has previously been used as an antidepressant, against herpes. The outcome: the agent can't destroy the virus within cells -- it does however block an enzyme needed by the virus when it "wakes up". Therefore herpes is at least able to be suppressed. Further studies are aimed at investigating the long-term effect.
